[Background]
History of Princess Luna.
[Personality]
Luna's personality has undergone many changes over the centuries. While it isn't explained precisely how she acted before Nightmare Moon, it's easy to believe that she possessed the same sense of decorum that she showed when she arrived in Ponyville for Nightmare Night. She spoke with the royal "we" and was very proper in her dealings with those not of royal standing. To her, there was a very clear line between those she ruled over and herself.
However, after having her night rejected by her subjects, she was twisted by her own jealousy of her sister and anger that no one would appreciate the hard work she put into the night sky. These negative feelings birthed her transformation into Nightmare Moon. In that form, she was not only bitter but manipulative, choosing to strike her enemies indirectly upon her release at the Summer Sun Celebration. It was likely that she'd learned cunning in her thousand-year exile, having plenty of time to plan. Rather than an outright attack, something that hadn't worked when Celestia had used the Elements of Harmony against her, she'd worked to ensure that no one could wield the Elements which would give her an advantage if things turned to direct combat.
Once Twilight Sparkle and her friends had purged her of her Nightmare Moon persona, Luna was very remorseful, asking her sister for forgiveness. Since receiving it, she has done her best to put her best hoof forward and put the past behind her. She chose to learn from her mistakes in order to keep from repeating them or dwelling on them which some would argue was the best attitude to have.
Unfortunately, she isn't completely free of what she has done. There are moments when her personality seems disturbingly close to Nightmare Moon's, particularly her temper. When she failed in her attempts to calm the citizens of Ponyville down after she rescued Pipsqueak from drowning in the bobbing for apples game lead to Pinkie Pie claiming that she was attempting to eat the little foal, she reverted back to anger due to her frustration and hurt. Her powers have a tendency to make her seem more frightening, even conjuring lightning to increase her intimidation factor. Her is, after all, the temper of a goddess who had not had the additional thousand years' experience of her sister.
However, it's during that same Nightmare Night that Luna discovered (or perhaps rediscovered) a love of play. While she can be quite serious a good portion of the time, taking her duties as Princess of the Night very seriously, she enjoys playing games or harmless tricks on her fellow ponies when it's time for levity rather than royal business or handling crises.
[Abilities]
Luna's abilities.
[Other important stuff]
Luna's powers will be somewhat weakened upon arrival in Somarium to prevent her from being too OP.
Also, due to her duties which take place at night, she's largely nocturnal. However, CR may pull her out of those habits.
[Sample post]
[First Person]
The moon is rising...on its own?
[She's gazing up in shock at the moon, eyes wide.]
How is this possible?! The duty is mine to raise the moon and decorate the sky with stars!
[Her horn glows with dark blue light. She focuses intently before she lowers her head and wings.]
I don't understand. [She looks forlornly back at her cutie mark.] My cutie mark says that I am to be the one who puts the moon in the sky, yet I can't influence the moon at all.
[She straightens up suddenly, flaring her wings with urgency.]
I must find Celestia. She'll know what to do.
[She takes off, soaring high into the sky in search of her sister.]
[Third Person]
Dreamwalking wasn't difficult for Luna. In fact, it was very, very familiar to her indeed. As Princess of the Night, it was her duty to enter the dreams of her subjects and guide them away from nightmares. Of course, her duties with the night sky came first and foremost though that was swiftly taken care of unless she planned to do something special like an aurora or meteor shower.
As much as she enjoyed raising the moon and bringing out the stars, it was entering other's dreams she loved the most. To ensure little ponies--or in this case people's--dreams went smoothly and they received a good rest was a pleasurable burden to bear.
She soared high in the night sky, focusing her power about herself to become ethereal. She had to be like smoke to enter. Well, that wasn't quite true. She could simply whisk herself into their dreams, but she didn't want to disrupt what she found as a general rule. She tended to stay in the background, waiting for others to notice her presence or ignore her per their desires.
She felt the pull of a strong dream, a potential nightmare, and she flew towards it, diving into the dreamscape with a thrill of anticipation. Ponies' dreams were nice, but the dreams of Somarium had so many varied nighttime visions. It was almost like going to these other worlds of theirs herself, and she wondered just where this dreamer would take her tonight.
[Why do you want to play this character in Somarium?] Laena is the queen of enablers.
[Which rule was your favorite and why?] No god-modding. Because she's a goddess and I have to put in limits.
[Where did you hear about Somarium?] Already a part of it!
[Any questions?] Nope!
